Two Things

It has been a busy week for us: Chris with his schooling, studying, soccer playing and paper writing, and me with the teaching and protesting (while being sick and expectorating, which is as uncomfortable as it sounds).

If you read my last blog post, then you know that I am a proud member of the 99% and the Occupy movement. If you also fit this category but don't like publicly protesting - it can feel awkward at times - then I suggest doing the two following to show your solidarity:

1. Change Banks: Close your account at your current bank and transfer your money to a Credit Union. Credit Unions are cooperative institutions in which the account holders are also the owners, and board of directors are elected democratically by the account holders. Therefore, less banker fraud and greed. Chris and I just joined the Navy Federal Credit Union and are now in the process of closing our Chase bank accounts. Up yours, Chase!

2. Buy Local and/or American Made Products:
Money has a mighty voice, so use it as a means to fight against big corporations and all the outsourcing that takes away jobs from Americans. Need some ideas?

Diana Papazian's Jewelry: It's all gorgeous and handmade by one talented woman.

Liquid Fire Glass: Functional (and highly beautiful) glass art by Caleb.

Unico Creation: Fine and unique jewelry and accessories. Custom made requests are welcome. She can also make head pieces.

Etsy: This website has thousands of hand crafted items to choose from. It's a fun site to look through and you may get stuck on it for hours.

Pinterest: Why not make your own gifts? Pinterest will give you inspiration.

So go ahead and start thinking of the holidays and remember to "put your money where your mouth is".

Have a great week!
